Duress & medical alarms

Response at the touch of a button.

Whether you're protecting frontline staff or someone you love at home, a duress alarm gets help on the way the moment a button is pressed. Configurable, monitored, and built to work even when nothing else does.

Who It’s For

Two situations, one principle

Press a button, get help. The form factor and response chain change with the situation, but the promise is the same. We build duress alarms for two distinct audiences:

Workplace Duress

Protect your frontline

For staff facing public risk: retail, healthcare, lone workers, banking, hospitality. A discreet button or wearable that puts trained help on the way without the person having to make a call.

  • Hidden under-counter buttons for retail and reception
  • Wearable duress for lone workers and field staff
  • Silent or audible activation — your call
  • Connected to your monitoring centre or escalation chain
Medical Alarms

Peace of mind at home

For loved ones living independently — a wearable pendant they can press if they fall, feel unwell, or need help. They stay independent. You sleep at night.

  • Lightweight pendant or wristband — worn comfortably all day
  • Optional automatic fall detection — no button press needed
  • Two-way voice — speak directly with the operator
  • Family or carer is notified alongside emergency response
Form Factors

Built for the situation

A duress alarm is only useful if it’s where you can reach it when you need it. We supply and install a range of form factors so the right device is matched to the right scenario.

Pendant

Worn around the neck or wrist. Lightweight, water-resistant, long battery.

Under-Counter Button

Hidden hard-wired button for retail, reception or banking environments.

Man-Down Tilt

Auto-activates if the wearer falls or stays horizontal beyond a set time.

No-Motion Detector

Triggers if no movement is detected within a set period — for solo high-risk roles.

Mobile App

Smartphone-based duress with GPS — for field staff and lone workers on the move.

What Happens When Pressed

From button to response

Every duress activation goes through the same four-step chain. No phone call, no menu, no waiting on hold.

01

Button pressed

A discreet press, fall detection, or no-motion event triggers the alarm — silently or audibly, your choice.

02

Signal sent

Encrypted alert transmits via cellular and IP to the monitoring centre, with location and device ID attached.

03

Operator verifies

A1-graded control room operator follows your custom procedure — voice contact, neighbour, family, emergency services.

04

Response on the way

Police, paramedics, patrol or a nominated key-holder dispatched — and you’re notified in real time.

For your staff, it’s safety at work. For mum and dad, it’s independence at home. Same simple promise: press a button, get help.

Customise It

Three things to decide

Every duress system is built around three questions. Don’t worry if you don’t have answers yet — we’ll walk you through them.

Who should be alerted?

A 24/7 monitoring centre, a manager’s mobile, security patrol, family members, or directly to emergency services. Or a chain — try the manager first, then escalate. Your call.

Silent or visible activation?

Silent works for retail or banking — don’t tip off the offender. Audible with strobe lights works in clinical or aged-care settings to attract immediate help and deter aggression.

Manual press, or auto-trigger?

A button press is most common. Add tilt detection (man-down) for unconscious or fall events, or no-motion timing for high-risk solo work. Sometimes you want all three on the same device.

FAQ

Common questions

Quick answers to what people most often ask. Anything else, give us a call.

How quickly does help arrive after a button is pressed?
The signal reaches the monitoring centre within seconds. From there, response time depends on your custom procedure and dispatch type — emergency services for medical, security patrol for workplace duress, or a phone call to a family member first. We design the procedure with you so it matches the urgency of your situation.
Will it work outside the home or workplace?
For wearable pendants and mobile-based duress alarms — yes. Cellular and GPS keep them working anywhere with mobile coverage, with location data sent alongside the alert. Hard-wired panic buttons are tied to the building they’re installed in.
What if it’s pressed by accident?
The monitoring operator will attempt to verify the activation first — typically with a phone call or two-way voice through the device. If it’s clearly a false alarm, response is cancelled and no charges apply. We tune the procedure so genuine alerts get through fast and accidental presses don’t waste anyone’s time.
Does the wearer need to charge it every night?
Not for traditional pendants — they run on a long-life battery that lasts years. Mobile-based units with GPS need regular charging like a phone. We’ll help you pick a form factor that matches the user’s habits and abilities.
What does it cost?
Depends on the form factor, the response procedure, and whether you opt for 24/7 monitoring. Hard-wired panic buttons connect to your existing alarm system at low cost; standalone medical pendants with monitoring and two-way voice run as a small monthly subscription. Get in touch for a no-obligation quote.
Can it integrate with our existing alarm or access system?
In most cases, yes. A duress button can trigger the building alarm, lock or unlock specific doors, start CCTV recording, or send a custom alert to managers — all on the same press. We’ll do a free site walk-through to confirm what’s compatible.
